Over 500 players were involved in the recent Club and School National Disability Festivals which were held at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, Newtown. The club event took place on June 24th and the school event on June 29th.
The club event saw a record number of teams attend at under 12, 16 and over 16 age groups with the youngest competitor being just 8 years of age. Winners on the day were:
Under 16’s Premiership – Llandudno MDFC
Under 16’s Championship – Swansea City VIP
Over 16’s Premiership – Llandudno MDFC
Over 16’s Championship – Llandudno MDFC
Schools from across Wales who had won their regional heats competed at under 12, under 16 and over 16 age groups to determine who the National Champions would be. This event was run in conjunction with the Welsh Schools FA. Winners on the day were:
Under 14 Band A – Bryngwyn Comprehensive School (Carmarthenshire)
Under 14 Band B – Birchgrove Comprehensive School (Swansea)
Under 14 Band C – Brynllywarch Hall School (Powys) & Ysgol Cedewain (Powys)
Under 16 Band A – Llanishen High School (Cardiff)
Under 16 Band B – Morriston Comprehensive School (Swansea) & Llanishen High (Cardiff)
Under 16 Band C – Birchgrove Comprehensive School (Swansea)
Over 16 Band C – Portfield School (Pembrokeshire)
